What is Pilates?
The Pilates Reformer, Cadillac and Chair are machines built of springs, straps, and pulleys, on which dozens of exercises can be practiced for both strength and flexibility. Exercises can vary in design and be as simple as a stretch or as complicated as a full body movement.
The Pilates equipment exercises establish core stability and postural alignment while also strengthening the arms and legs. The greatest aspect of the Pilates Equipment is that anyone – from the severely handicapped to the professional athlete – can benefit from their use. The Pilates Reformer, Cadillac, and Chair can assist or challenge your workout depending on the dynamic you need for your body. For more on the history of Pilates visit www.pilatesmethodalliance.org.
Let's Do This
Choose the Best Pilates Option for You
At George Erb Fitness Center we offer private and duet equipment sessions. All instructors have taken a comprehensive Pilates program from a training school that is approved and registered by the Pilates Method Alliance. Our studio is equipped with Balanced Body ® Pilates Reformer/Cadillac Combos, Chairs, Arcs and Ladder Barrel.
PE is a playground of sorts, where you and fellow members will build strength, flexibility, and power, while having fun during the process. No slides, swings, or hopscotch here though. In a given 50 minute session, our Pilates Trainer will lead you through a brief mat warm up, then a challenging workout on the Reformers, Cadillacs, and Chairs.
Best of all, the price is right. Less than a private or duet session, PE offers an affordable way for you to continue your Pilates education. Try it soon and you will see what all the hype is about.*Prior equipment experience is required to join PE. Please contact GEFC regarding this requirement.
Pilates, or The Pilates Method, is known for a “mind-body” approach to fitness. This discipline is appropriate for many fitness levels, from the novice to the athlete, because of its ability to be modified based on the strength of the client. The goal of the mat class is to achieve an overall workout focused on strengthening, stretching, balance, core stability, and alignment.
